About The Instructor

JANET TAKAHASHI is a free-lance artist with a “love of letters,” specializing in calligraphy, illustration, and gilding. With a deep appreciation for nature and science, she paints in the field, working “en plein air” capturing the scenery before her. Nature’s showcase is her teacher and inspiration. She is an avid journal-keeper and savors life’s details with a sketch a day. Janet is a commercial illustrator and designer. Her work is widely published and is the author of Artful Journals and illustrator for the Speedball Textbook 24th Centennial Edition. Janet travels extensively teaching sketchbook journaling and calligraphy, appears frequently on PBS’ Make It Artsy tv and teaches most recently as artist-in-residence at Yosemite National Park.
