Holiday Social & Annual Meeting

Join us for a festive society gathering, complete with yummy cake. Robert Beall (aka StampMan) will bring his boxes of stamps and sell them at their stated value. This is an opportunity to buy U.S. postage stamps from bygone years and use them on your mail today. There is no extra charge for vintage postage, and it is so decorative on an envelope. (Robert does not accept credit cards.)

This is also our annual formal meeting which includes election of officers and board members, and other society business.

For over 40 years, PSC has hosted its annual calligraphy retreat at the Menucha Retreat and Conference Center. Menucha is located on a beautiful hundred-acre sanctuary in the Columbia River Gorge with breathtaking landscapes, steeped in a rich history dating back to Lewis and Clark.

In modern times, calligraphers, book artists, mark makers and designers of all experience levels have come to be inspired by the beautiful environs and enjoy an experience free of the pressures of day-to-day living. Our PSC retreats offer each calligrapher something very special—a space to practice, start new projects or finish old ones; a chance to enjoy three delectable homemade meals each day; and an opportunity to rest, relax, be revived, and enjoy the company and synergy of fellow artisans.

The Portland Society for Calligraphy Board meetings are open to all members. At the meetings, the Board of Directors develops and carries out the Society’s policies and by-laws with the help of committees who report activities to the Board. While the Board reflects a diversity of calligraphic experience, everyone is devoted to the art. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, we invite you to come to the next Board meeting and help the Society grow.
