The annual International Lettering Arts Conference will be June 24 – July 1, 2017 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Registration begins July 1, 2016. Details on the conference website

Planning has begun for this year’s Oregon State Fair being held August 26–September 5. The “Here Comes the Fun” theme promises another great year.

It’s not too early to decide which pieces of art you want to display. Registration online has begun. Up to two pieces created in the last two years are eligible for entry, in either the Juried or the Non-Juried division. Ambassadors from almost all of your guilds/areas are ready to take questions and coordinate drop-off and pick-up of artwork. You can find them on the Capital Calligraphers website: Demonstrators (writing names) and hosts play a very important role in making our exhibit one of the most popular at the Fair.

Click below for the PDF with all the information about entering your calligraphy in the State Fair, as well as volunteering to write names and demonstrate during the Fair.

The PSC Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, June 28th at 5:30 pm at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 147 NW 19th Avenue in Portland. The agenda for the meeting will include a discussion of how PSC might increase its education and outreach to middle schools, high schools, college age students and young adults. All PSC members are invited to attend and participate in this discussion.

Parking at Trinity is available in the lot directly across 19th Avenue from the building or in the lot on the south side of the building.

The Portland Society for Calligraphy Board meetings are open to all members. At the meetings, the Board of Directors develops and carries out the Society’s policies and by-laws with the help of committees who report activities to the Board. While the Board reflects a diversity of calligraphic experience, everyone is devoted to the art. Whether you are a beginner or more experienced, we invite you to come to the next Board meeting and help the Society grow.
